Osage City clipped the Central Heights prep baseball team Thursday.
One run in the top of the seventh inning by the Indians was the difference in the 4-3 decision. Osage earned the sweep with a 14-6 win in Game 2 of the doubleheader at CHHS.
The losses ended a two-game win streak by the Vikings, dropping their season record to 5-7.
Seth Burroughs, senior, had two of the Vikings’ five hits in Game 1, and two of the team’s three RBIs. Matt Cubit had two hits and two RBIs in Game 2.
Central Heights plays Tuesday at Mission Valley.
The Central Heights High School softball team was swept at home Thursday falling to an 11-5 Osage City team 14-6 and 11-0.
Osage grabbed an 11-1 led in Game 1 before the Lady Vikings scored one run in bottom of the fourth and three runs in the fifth. Seniors Jasmine Clancy and Hannah Savage had two hits apiece for Central Heights, with Savage picking up a triple and an RBI. Lindsay Burson, senior, scored twice, and fellow senior Shelbi Hettinger drove in two.
Riley Roll, senior, took the loss on the mound, striking out one and walking one over seven innings. She allowed 12 earned runs.
Roll, Burson and Hettinger collected the only hits for the Lady Vikings in the Game 2 shutout. Layla Bones, junior, pitched seven innigns, allwoing nine earned runs while walking one and striking out one.
Central Heights (1-11) plays Tuesday at Mission Valley.
