BLUE SPRINGS, Missouri — Ottawa wrapped up its regular season with a win.

The American Legion Post 60 Arrows nipped Pyramid Roofing (Omaha, Nebraska) Friday in their final game of the FIKE Wood Bat Tournament in Blue Springs, Missouri. The game was called after six innings due to the two-hour time limit with the Arrows preserving a 4-3 victory.

Michael Hull and the Arrows defense got out of a base-loaded, one-out jam with Pyramid Roofing batting in the bottom of the sixth.

Ottawa scored twice in the top of the first with Wyatt Johnston driving in Brody Mundell on a double, and Brady Beets scoring Johnston.

Pyramid Roofing scored twice in the bottom of the second, and once in the bottom of the third to take a 3-2 lead. The Arrows responded with what would be the winning runs in the top of the fifth. Colson Bien drove in the go-ahead run on a groundout.

That was Ottawa’s lone win against stiff competition in the 25-team tournament. The team took two losses on Thursday — 10-2 to Rod’s A’s (Blue Springs, Missouri) and 14-0 to Post 226 (Elsberry, Missouri). Ottawa’s runs against the A’s came when Johnston scored on a rundown by LaMar, and Jose Richards drew a bases-loaded walk to score Spencer Mayes. The team also fell in Wednesday’s tournament-opener, 7-0 against Post 37 (Quincy, Illinois).

With the Arrows’ final regular season doubleheader scratched (originally scheduled Wednesday at Emporia), Ottawa (9-17) will look to get healthy for its Zone Tournament. Triple-A Zone is set for July 16-22 at McDonald Field in Topeka.
