OSAWATOMIE — With a pair of league victories Tuesday, Wellsville High School volleyball is on a four-match win streak.

The Lady Eagles swept both Prairie View 25-13, 25-7, and host Osawatomie 25-23, 25-14 at Osawatomie’s triangular. Madie McCoy, junior, led the offense with 15 kills. Ally Newhouse, senior had 16 digs and eight service aces, while Grace Showalter, senior, finished with 24 assists and five aces.

WHS is set to host 3A sub-state Oct. 20 with a number of top teams coming to town. Schools competing in the tournament are — Wellsville (18-10), Burlington (26-2), West Franklin (17-8), Perry-Lecompton (19-9), Osage City (19-10), Santa Fe Trail (9-12), Bishop Ward (4-11) and Prairie View (1-15).

The Lady Eagles host Senior Night during their final regular season home matches starting 4:30 p.m. Tuesday against Burlington and Iola.


POMONA — The Lady Falcons continue to climb the 3A standings following a home sweep of Lyndon Tuesday. The West Franklin High School volleyball team stomped Lyndon 25-23, 25-19 and 25-22, 25-17 on Senior Night and Dig Pink Night. The team is now 8-2 in its last 10 matches.

The wins move WFHS up to second place in its 3A sub-state standings, just ahead of Perry-Lecompton (19-9) and behind Burlington (26-2). West Franklin will play Oct. 20 in 3A sub-state hosted at Wellsville High School, 602 Walnut St., Wellsville.

The Lady Falcons (17-8) play Tuesday at Central Heights.


The Lady Vikings dropped a pair of home matches Tuesday to Chase County 25-10, 25-19 and 25-18, 25-23.

The Central Heights High School volleyball team is set to play Oct. 20 in the 2A sub-state hosted at Pleasanton High School, 1001 Ash St., Pleasanton.

The team (0-20) will search for its first win starting 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Uniontown High School tournament.
