EUDORA — The Lady Eagles hit 10 three pointers to rout Bonner Springs in their final tournament game. The Wellsville girls topped the Braves 50-33 Thursday in the fifth-place game of the Eudora Tournament.

WHS led 22-12 at halftime and 39-23 after three quarters. Three players scored in double digits for Wellsville — Ally Newhouse (16 points), Demi Aamold (11 points) and Madie McCoy (10 points).

“I thought we played well tonight and did a good job on our press creating turnovers,” Brock Campbell, WHS head girls basketball coach, said.

Wellsville begins league play Tuesday at Osawatomie.

Defense propelled Central Heights past Kansas City Christian, 45-23, Friday in the seventh-place game of the Ike Cearfoss Tournament.

“We played three very solid quarters of defense tonight holding KCC to two points in the first, third and fourth quarters,” Central Heights coach Doug North said. “Mary Roehl and Abby Brown were aggressive on drives and got to the free throw line. They are good free throw shooters and combined for 21 points. Cameron Peel did a great job scoring 12 points off the bench. Our bench scored 22 points. “It’s nice to have that threat off the bench.”

Central Heights plays Tuesday at home against Northern Heights.
