Bryce Sommer hit a long three to beat the first half buzzer. That shot cut Metro Academy’s lead to 31-27 at halftime of Thursday’s semifinal prep basketball game of the Ike Cearfoss Tournament hosted by Central Heights.

The Vikings, however, fell behind in the second half, including a 19-8 disadvantage to the Mavericks in the fourth quarter. Metro won 61-43 to advance to today’s championship game against Santa Fe Trail. Central Heights will play in the third-place game 4 p.m. today against Osage City at CHHS.

Matt Cubit led the Vikings with 12 points. Austin Coffman was right behind with 11.

HARMON 64, WELLSVILLE 56

Harmon defeated Wellsville, 64-56, Friday in the fifth-place game of the Paola Tournament.

Zach Vance paced the Eagles with 18 points. Jackson Dwyer finished with 11.
