WAVERLY — A 19-6 run in the second quarter helped boost Central Heights past Waverly Monday. The Viking boys basketball team won its second straight, topping the Bulldogs 51-29 in Waverly.

Senior Matt Cubit led CHHS with 12 points, and Bryce Sommer added 11. The Viking defense did not allow Waverly to score in doublt digits during any of the four periods.

Central Heights (12-5) plays Friday Marais des Cygnes Valley in Melvern.

BURLINGTON — The Wellsville boys had its five-game win streak snapped in Monday’s rescheduled game. Burlington scored 26 points in the third quarter and ultimately topped the Eagles 76-69 in Burlington.

Wellsville’s Zach Vance hit five of the team’s eight three-point shots, and led WHS with 25 points. Burlington senior Jace Watkins led all players with 27 points — including 11 scored in the third quarter.

Wellsville (8-7) hosts Baldwin today as part of a four-game week. The team plays at West Franklin Thursday in Pomona for a make-up game.
