An 11-match skid came to an end in the regular season finale Thursday. The Ottawa High School girls soccer team routed visiting Highland Park 5-0 on Ottawa University’s Braves Field, bringing its record to 3-13 heading into regional seeding.

Senior Regan Fogle scored three goals for the Lady Cyclones, the first coming at the 5:01 mark in the first half to put OHS up 2-0 at the break. She scored at the 13:55 mark in the second half on a free kick, and again less than four minutes later at the 10:10 mark. Olivia Morton scored the match’s first goal at the 18:24 mark in the first half. Alexis Schultze scored at the 25:14 mark in the second half.

“They put a lot of effort into [Thursday’s match],” BreAnne Poe, OHS head girls soccer coach, said. “They had a lot of good shots, they had a lot of good plays and ball movement. Everything was on.”

Regional seeding for soccer is set to be released Saturday. As of Friday, OHS sits 11th out of 12 teams in the 4A-1A Northeast Regional.

Poe’s message to the team heading into the postseason is simple.

“Put in effort and we will see how it turns out,” she said.
