TOPEKA — Senior Jackson Dwyer led the way for an Eagle regional championship. The Wellsville High School boys golf team won its 3A regional Monday hosted by Silver Lake at Lake Shawnee Golf Course, and Dwyer claimed the individual title.

Dwyer finished two strokes ahead of Praire View’s Brock Heide with an 87 for the win. Junior Gabe Good shot a 96 to tie for sixth-place and freshman Luke Smith tied for ninth with a 97.

West Franklin also competed at the regional, finishing seventh out of seven teams. Matthew Gilkey was the team’s top placer, taking 23rd with a 109. Riley Milliken placed 27th with a 115.

The Wellsville boys are now set to play at 3A state 9 a.m. Monday at Emporia Municipal Golf Course.
