MLK celebration set for Sunday

State Rep. Blaine Finch, R-Ottawa, is expected to be the keynote speaker at the annual Martin Luther King Jr. celebration 2 p.m. Sunday in Fredrikson Chapel on the Ottawa University campus, 1011 S. Cedar St., Ottawa.
The First Baptist Church choir, Bethany Chapel Baptist Church choir and Ottawa University Jazz Singers plan to perform. Mayor Blake Jorgensen is to read the annual Martin Luther King Jr. proclamation and is expected to present the “Keep the Dream Alive” award.
Winners of the Martin Luther King Jr. essay contest will be recognized. This year’s essay contest theme was: “What could you do to improve the acceptance of diversity?”
