Weidl helps lead OHS wrestling to third

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — The Ottawa High School wrestling team finished third Saturday in the Piper Invitational.

Ottawa finished behind Mill Valley and Jeff West.

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — The Ottawa High School wrestling team finished third Saturday in the Piper Invitational.

Ottawa finished behind Mill Valley and Jeff West.

Ottawa had 11 of 13 wrestlers placing. Dalton Weidl won his second straight tournament championship.

Caleb Parenti, Connor Gross and Mickey Jensen finished second. Brandin Bell and Hunter Peoples were third.

“Dalton again wrestled very well and really dominated his opponents,” Ottawa coach Joe Tokarz said. “Brandin Bell had his best day of the year so far. Mickey Jensen has started turning a corner and is competing well in every match.

“I am very pleased with Connor Gross ... he just keeps finding ways to win.”

Ottawa wrestles Thursday at Highland Park.
