Are printed phone books the Internet’s latest victim?

Printed phone books soon may be a thing of the past in California if proposed legislation is approved.

At least one senator believes printed telephone books are extinct as the public continues its massive movement to online directories and heavier usage of non-listed cell phone numbers. The proposed legislation would make the white pages — the traditional residential listings — an opt-in transaction, so if you don’t order it, you don’t get it.
