An Ottawa mentor

I had this note ready to send to Vern Chesbro personally, but since he is gone, I decided to send it to my hometown, area counties, state and country that Vern and I both always loved and from which we have drawn our strength. Like Vern and Phyliss, I came home to raise my kids and be part of a community and area that are strong.

Many think Ottawa and Franklin County, our area counties and our state represent an outdated, lackluster culture with not much to offer to some, especially our young people. However, many also will realize this area is a representation of friends and those who staunchly aspire for better, those who share their struggles in hard times, their dreams and hopes and work for their children’s and grandchildren’s futures.
