Electronic state tax filing could throw you for a loop

Those who thought the economic troubles at the state government level wouldn’t affect them will have to think again.

Those who have picked up their Kansas tax forms at the library or other sites will have to take a different route this year because the state tax forms aren’t there. The forms also aren’t available to be downloaded from a Web site because budget cuts prevented the department of revenue from being able to hire additional staff to process downloaded forms. Consequently, Kansans will need to either file their state taxes electronically or contact the state via e-mail, forms@kdor.state.ks.us, or voice mail request line, (785) 296-4937.
