Guilty verdict in child sex case

By DOUG CARDER, Herald Staff Writer

A 33-year-old Ottawa man faces up to life in prison after being found guilty of one count of aggravated criminal sodomy against a child.

Duane Francis Brannan plead no contest to one count of aggravated criminal sodomy related to the sexual assault of his daughter. In exchange for his plea, two other counts of aggravated criminal sodomy and two counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child were dropped as part of a plea agreement worked out between Ottawa defense attorney Forrest Allen Lowry and the Franklin County Attorney’s Office, which was prosecuting the case.
