City set to cut down ‘Christmas’ tree

Residents shouldn’t be alarmed if they see someone chopping down the mayor’s Christmas tree.

A new one soon will stand in its place at Edward E. Haley Community Park, Main and Second streets, Andy Haney, the city’s public works director, said. Each November, the sitting mayor has the honor of flipping the switch to light up the decorated tree, ushering in the Christmas season in Ottawa.
