Updated: Traffic accidents pile up in snow

By The Herald Staff

Snow that hit the area just in time for daily commutes and school traffic has caused numerous accidents, according to police scanner reports.

Most accidents appear to be slide-offs on slippery roads. No serious accidents, apparently, were noted by 8:30 a.m.

Police advise driving slowly and carefully.

Accidents not involving injuries are encouraged to move cars out of lanes of traffic because of low visibility.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory until noon because of expected snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches.

The forecast calls for a daytime high of about 35 degrees.

The chance for snow this evening will drop to about 20 percent with a chance of flurries for Saturday.

Sunday and Monday will see a 50 percent chance of more snow.

By Tuesday skies will turn partly cloudy, but temperatures will drop with highs in 20s.
