Members of the Ottawa Herald staff were recognized Friday by the William Allen White Foundation at the University of Kansas for receiving the 2009 Burton W. Marvin Kansas News Enterprise Award. The Herald earned the award for its five-day series detailing economic turmoil in Ottawa and Franklin County. Herald’s economy series wins award

LAWRENCE — A comprehensive look at economic struggles in Ottawa and Franklin County won reporting honors for The Ottawa Herald.

The Herald and The Kansas City Star each received the 2009 Burton W. Marvin Kansas News Enterprise Award. The awards were presented Friday by the William Allen White Foundation at the University of Kansas in Lawrence.
