A more constructive ‘mob’

As a lifelong resident of Ottawa and a person who still likes to take advantage of fun activities and entertainment, I would like to respond to Sam Warshawsky’s diatribe, published in The Herald’s Feb. 6-7 Weekender edition, defending the recent “flash mob” incident at Walgreens.

I know from experience that it’s often hard to entertain yourself in Ottawa. There wasn’t much to do in this town when I was growing up, and it remains that way today. Hopefully the new center the Ottawa Recreation Commission is developing will help alleviate that situation. Until that’s up and running, standing in a long line in the sleet, snow and north wind, waiting for the mind-numbingly slow Redbox to dispense your movie will have to suffice.
