OU softball splits opening DH with Baker

The Lady Braves opened the 2012 softball season Thursday afternoon with a split versus Baker University. OU won game one, 4-2, but fell in game two, 8-2.

Ottawa scored three runs in the first inning, taking a 3-0 lead on Baker in game one. The Lady Braves pushed one run across in the bottom of the second to take a 4-0 lead on the Wildcats. Baker scored one run in the top of the fourth and sixth to cut into OU’s lead. The Lady Braves shut down Baker in the top of the seventh, taking a 4-2 victory. Myah Sprew and Amanda Martinsen both went 2-for-3 at the plate. Sprew had two RBI, Martinsen tallied one, and Lyndsay Swafford had the fourth and final RBI. Ashley Renaldi picked up the victory and Lynna Kays earned the save.
