Ottawa's Weidl wins league

The Ottawa High School wrestling team had seven wrestlers finish in the top four Friday and Saturday in the Frontier League Tournament in Ottawa.
The Cyclones finished fourth with a 3-3 dual record. Ottawa defeated Eudora (60-18), Louisburg (43-26) and De Soto (44-36). Ottawa lost to Paola (47-30), Spring Hill (67-6) and Baldwin (46-30).

“We had a pretty good two days,” Ottawa coach Joe Tokarz said. “We are hoping this meet will help push us into the regional meet.”
Ottawa junior Dalton Weidl won the 182-pound division by winning all six matches. Tony Wurtz finished second at 106 with a 5-1 mark.
Mickey Jensen (285), Caleb Parenti (160), Sam Carver (132) and Cale Paquette (120) finished third with 4-2 records.
Hunter Peoples (145) was fourth at 3-3.
Ottawa wrestles Friday and Saturday at the 4A regional in Tonganoxie.
The top four finishers in each weight division advance to the state tournament. It is a double-elimination bracketed format.
