OU has 3 indoor KCAC champs

MANHATTAN ­— Three Ottawa University track athletes were Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference indoor track champions this past weekend in the KCAC Championships in Manhatttan. Ottawa had a total of 13 all-conference performances.

Sam Blecha won the men’s shot with a toss of 45 feet, 9 inches. Ryin Brant won the men’s pole vault at 14-4.

Sarah Dains won the women’s 600-meter race in 1 minute, 43.1 seconds.

The women’s team finished fifth with 25 points. The men were sixth with 36 points.

Sammie Ford III took third in the long jump and was an all-KCAC performer.

Joe Mendez earned all-KCAC honors with a six-place finish in the 5,000 run.

Dexter Hayes became an all-KCAC performer in two sports.

He was sixth in the high jump and earned second-team KCAC honors in football last fall.

Ottawa men’s distance medley relay finished third to take all-KCAC honors. The 3,200 relay was sixth to earn all-KCAC honors.

Janelle Bailey earned All-KCAC honors with a fifth-place finish in the women’s 1,000 race. Chelsea Fullerton was an all-KCAC performer with her fourth-place finish in the 5,000. Brianna Betts was sixth in the long jump to earn all-KCAC honors.

The women’s 3,200 relay team and distance medley relay were all-KCAC with a fourth-place finishes.
