OU having auditions for coming musical

Ottawa University Theatre department has put out a casting call for the musical “Violet.”

The musical is about a young girl’s journey by bus to visit a television healer in hopes of finding healing for a facial scar. Instead, she finds love and companionship along the way that provide healing for the scars on her heart, an Ottawa University press release said.

Roles include a teenage girl and men and women between the ages of 20 and 60. The musical styles of the show include country, gospel and rock.

 Auditions for the musical production are open to the public and will be from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday at the Larry D. Peters Auditorium in the Ottawa University administration building, 1001 S. Cedar St., and from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday in Room 117 of Atkinson Hall.

“Violet” was composed by Jeanine Tesori, with book and lyrics by Brian Crawly. The curtain will rise on the production 7:30 p.m. April 30 through May 2 at the Larry D. Peters Auditorium.
