Four surviving siblings of the late James Elder, inset above, at left, are pictured from left, Shirley Elder, Margaret Bischoff, seated on the floor, Edith McAuley and Kenneth Elder. James Elder died when the submarine he was stationed on sunk in the Philippines in 1944. A documentary film crew recently discovered the remains of the sub. Footage of the sub will be aired as part of an episode of “Dive Detectives” on the Discovery Channel.

Sunken sub that claimed Ottawan’s life discovered, now headed for TV

At last, relief has come to the Elder family, and it will come in the form of a TV show.

After 66 years, the family can breathe a sigh of relief, as the sunken vessel the late James Edward Elder was last seen on has been discovered.
