The top official for the Ottawa school district has resigned.
Dean Katt, superintendent of Ottawa schools, resigned Friday morning, effective immediately. The Ottawa school board voted 5-1 to accept Katt’s resignation at a special meeting Friday morning.
Katt, who was hired in 2006, is expected to be retained by the district as a consultant from Friday until Oct. 31. Brian Kraus, assistant superintendent, was approved by the board to take over immediately as interim superintendent until Katt’s replacement can be hired.
