OU softball rallies for win

BARTELSVILLE, Okla. — The Ottawa University softball team found a field without snow in Bartlesville, Okla. and played four games this past weekend.

The Lady Braves went 1-3. Ottawa nipped Benedictine 6-5 Friday. Ottawa lost to Oklahoma Wesleyan 3-1 Friday and 3-2 Saturday.

The Lady Braves went 1-3. Ottawa nipped Benedictine 6-5 Friday. Ottawa lost to Oklahoma Wesleyan 3-1 Friday and 3-2 Saturday.

Ottawa closed out the four-game swing with a 7-0 loss to Benedictine.

Ottawa scored a run in the bottom of the seventh for the win over Benedictine.

Alyssa Miller singled to left. She then stole second. Catherine Wallace’s fly out to right field moved Miller third.

Amanda Martinsen walked gave Ottawa runners at first and third with one out. Hailie Ray’s hit was misplayed by the shortstop and Miller scored.

Cady Blevins led Ottawa two hits. She drove in one and scored once.

Ray picked up her third victory of the season. She had eight strikeouts and only allowed one earned run.

Ottawa had trouble scoring against Wesleyan. Ottawa broke through for its only run in the seventh inning.

Blevins had three hits.

Morgan Shramek pitched all six innings.

Ottawa had a 2-0 lead slip away in Saturday’s loss to Wesleyan. The Eagles scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh.

Ottawa got on the board with a home run by Mikayla Oliphant in the fourth and an RBI sin the fifth from Martinsen.

Miller led Ottawa with two hits. Lynna Kays pitched six innings.

Ottawa (6-4) plays 1:30 p.m. Thursday at home against MidAmerica Nazarene University.
