OHS hires new football coach

By CLEON RICKEL, Herald Senior Writer

Marc Bergan, assistant Baker University coach, has been selected as Ottawa High School’s new football coach.

Bergan has been offensive coordinator, quarterback and offensive line coach at Baker over the five years he has been at the school.

“He’s young, he’s enthusiastic and he came highly recommended,” OHS athletic director Brad Graf said. “He’s definitely ready to be the head coach of a 5A football program.

“We’re excited to have him come aboard.”

Bergan has 12 years of college coaching experience and four years of high school coaching experience.

He has been a head high school football coach in Iowa and served as an assistant at Northwest Missouri State, Maryville; and assistant and head coach at Dakota State, Madison, S.D.

He succeeds Pat Boeh, who resigned in November.
