Josephine “Jodie” B. Seales, age 82, of Woodston, Kan., and formerly of Ottawa, Kan., passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, Monday, March 17, 2008, at the Saint Anthony Central Hospital in Denver, Colo.
She was born Nov. 19, 1925, at Ocheltree, Kan., the daughter of William A. and Marjorie B. (Russell) Hiatt. She grew up and attended schools in Stilwell, Kan., graduating from the Stilwell High School in 1943.
Jodie was united in marriage to Jesse L. Seales on July 22, 1950, in Eureka Springs, Ark. They shared more than 47 years of marriage before the death of her husband in November 1997.
Jodie was a loving and devoted homemaker. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and their dog, Ornery. She was an avid reader enjoyed fishing and especially tending to her plants and gardens.
She is survived by three sons, Richard N. Moore, and his wife, Ruby, of Merriam, Kan., Kenneth D. Seales, and his wife, Sharon, of Craig, Colo., and David L. Seales, and his wife, Kelly, of Woodston, Kan.; a daughter, Karen L. (Moore) Connaghan of Arvada, Colo.; a sister, Catherine L. Cornwell, and her husband, Don, of Grandview, Mo.; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Hiatt, of Centralia, Kan., and Bobbi Hiatt, of Grandview, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mrs. Seales was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a grandson, Patrick Connaghan; an infant great-grandson, Christopher Connaghan, and two brothers, Donald A. Hiatt and Warren E. Hiatt.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at the Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home in Ottawa, Kan. Interment will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Stanley, Kan. The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. Tuesday before the service at the funeral home.
