Cyclone netters win a match in opener

EMPORIA — The Ottawa High School tennis team opened play Tuesday at Emporia with just one win.
That victory came in No. 2 doubles. Trent Corcoran and Jacob Allen defeated Topeka, 8-3. The pair fell to Hayden and Emporia, 8-4
In No. 1 singles, Tyler Sheldon lost 8-0 to Hayden; 8-6 to Emporia, and 8-0 to Lawrence
In No. 2 singles, Andrew Lanning lost 8-5 to Hayden; 8-0 to Emporia, and 8-2 to Topeka High.
The No. 1 doubles team of Kameron Cole and Braden Ward lost 8-1 to Hayden; 8-6 to Emporia, and 8-4 to Topeka High.
In the junior varsity, Rogan Frings went 2-1 to finish second in No. 1 singles.
The No. 2 doubles tandem of Justin Black and Damacius White went 2-1 to finish second.
Michael Pamaska, No. 2 singles, went 1-2. No. 2 doubles team of Lyndsey Brown and Austin Hasty also went 1-2.
On Monday, the JV squad played in Emporia. Josh Evans went 0-3 in singles. Schuyler Foulke went 1-2 in singles.
In doubles, Matthew Morgan and Kyle Reeve posted a 1-2 mark. Chris Nicholson and Justin Gardner, 0-3.
