Longtime Garnett city official Mike Norman running again

By JENALEA MYERS, Herald Staff Writer

GARNETT — More than two decades hasn’t been enough for Mike Norman, Garnett.

After 21 years as a Garnett city commissioner, Norman is seeking another term on the commission. And the odds are in his favor as he’s running uncontested.

“There are a lot of projects that need finished,” he said. “I’m really looking forward to helping.”

Norman, a retired rural mail carrier and volunteer with the Garnett Fire Department, and his wife, Helen, are active in a number of organizations in the Garnett community.

He said he’s eager to see how the stimulus package money is allocated.

“There’s never enough money out there to do what you want to do,” he said.

Utility prices are an issue for Garnett residents and will be something the commission will look to improve, Norman said.

“Improving the quality of life for citizens of Garnett is our biggest goal,” he said.
