OU newspaper earns accolades

Ottawa University’s The Campus newspaper staff received many awards at the Kansas Associated Collegiate Press Competition.
Seventeen students won a total of 30 individual awards in 21 of 23 categories entered. The staff received a bronze award in the overall private universities category and an honorable mention for special sections.
Students, their awards and the categories include:
• Nicole Lemons — second runner up, university journalist of the year (public and private schools); first, front page design; first, photo essay; second, series writing; second, special section; third, sports feature writing; and honorable mention, feature writing.
• Alli Small — first, photo essay; second, special section; second, series writing; second, interior page design; third, photo essay; honorable mention, photo essay; and honorable mention, infographics.
• Will Allison — second, series writing; third, single ad design; third, sports column writing; honorable mention, sports news writing; honorable mention, feature writing; and honorable mention, photo essay.
• Jeremiah Allan — third, column writing; third, review writing; honorable mention, sports column writing; and honorable mention, review writing.
• Emily Loughary — second, interior page design; second, series writing; and honorable mention, illustrations.
• Sarah Blecha — third, photo essay; third, feature photography; and honorable mention, illustration.
• Tyler Long — honorable mention, review writing and single ad design.
• Crystal Snyder — third, cartoons; and honorable mention, cartoons.
