Search is on after high school official’s mid-year resignation

By JODIE GARCIA, Herald Staff Writer

WELLSVILLE — A search for a new Wellsville High School assistant principal and activities director is under way following the resignation of incumbent Kris Kehl.

Wellsville School Board members voted April 13 to approve Kehl’s resignation, and it was effective that day, Superintendent Denise O’Dea said Monday.

O’Dea said Kehl did not provide a reason, and Kehl declined to comment Monday about the mid-semester resignation.

Kehl, a Mound City native, came to Wellsville in 2006 after working as a principal and football coach at Jayhawk-Linn High School at Mound City, Herald archives show.

He previously taught and coached in Missouri and at Louisburg.

O’Dea said the position has been opened for applications, and the district already has received several.
