SERMON: What are you going to do about it?

By PASTOR SHARON COOK, Faith Hope & Love Outreach Ministries

Everyone these days sees problems and situations in their communities or the nation and wonder about doing something.

When we see a need we might think about how we could take care of that need. There may be always something that will catch your attention to make you think about stepping forward and doing something because there is so much that needs done in this world.

The church as a whole, the family of God, needs to step forward and do something. For so long now the church has sat back and done nothing and now wonder why things are the way they are.

Ezekiel 22:30 — “I looked in vain for anyone who would build again the wall of righteousness that guards the land, who could stand in the gap and defend you from my just attacks, but I found not one.”

Sin is rampant and is all around us. So many things that happen and that need our attention, are because of sin. If you want to change things you have to change the sin, which is the root of the problem.

How do you react or feel when you hear of problems that are caused by sin? Do you feel the need to pray or fast or do something to cause change or do you just sit back and say, “oh well?”

So many things are going on in our country because we have done nothing about it. This country that is so great is quickly “going down the tubes” because of sin and getting away from the foundation it was built on.

The United States was started as a country to have freedom of religion. Because we have not done anything we are heading fast to losing that freedom. Where will we go then or do you want to salvage what is left and say enough is enough and do something about it?

Nehemiah when he heard about the walls of Jerusalem that were destroyed and the people’s needs, he was moved to do something. He wept, fasted and prayed and then asked the king who held him and others captive to let them go and meet the need.

They went, built the walls back and helped the people regardless of the persecution and the attacks from the surrounding enemy.

Do you want to see things get better and for God to bless this country, your own communities, or in your own homes? Don’t just sit back and do nothing.

2 Chronicles 7:14 — “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

If we, as God’s people, will just start by praying and fasting, we can see change happen. There are many other things you can do but start there.

God will show you where you fit in and what you can do. Some things and opportunities will come your way so use those avenues to make changes.

So, what are you going to do about it?
