ERIE — Howard L. Smith, 88, Erie, died Monday, April 28, 2008, at the Prairie Mission Retirement Village, Erie.
The funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Pierce-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, Erie.
He was born Dec. 7, 1919, to Ray W. and Mida C. (Comer) at Stark. He grew up in Stark and graduated from Chanute High School.
He married Cecila Irene Schoenhofer in 1943 in St. Paul. She died Dec. 24, 1977. He married Cleda McCullough April 17, 1982. She survives.
Before moving to Erie, he managed an elevator and a Montgomery Ward store in Garnett several years.
Survivors also include three daughters, Nancy Gretencord, Wellsville, Gloria Henggeler, Columbus, Neb., and Sandra Donhauser, Wichita; two brothers, Robert Smith, Phoenix, and Perry Smith, Huntsville, Texas; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Dean Smith.
The family will meet visitors 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at the East Hill Cemetery, Erie.
