Wellsville teacher resigns amid rumors

By The Herald Staff

A Wellsville High School teacher has resigned following unsubstantiated rumors of his improper involvement with a student.

Board members Monday night approved the resignation of Jeb Clements, math teacher and assistant football and track coach, effective immediately, unofficial board minutes show.

A district staff member, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said staff members were notified last week that an investigation was ongoing and that an unnamed teacher had been suspended.

The staff member said Clements wasn't at school all last week.

Superintendent Denise O'Dea has declined to address rumors surrounding Clements, saying it is a confidential, personnel matter.

Law enforcement officers in Franklin, Douglas and Johnson counties have declined to comment about any investigations that may or may not be under way involving Clements.
