Garnett Cruise Night revs up Friday

By CLEON RICKEL, Herald Senior Writer

GARNETT — The TGIF! Auto/Motorcycle Cruise Night premieres 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at various locations along U.S. 59 in Garnett.

The cruise meet is free and open to any antique, classic and custom car, truck and motorcycle, Susan Wettstein, a member of The Lake Garnett Cruisers, which is the host of the event, said.

The event will include music and door prizes, she said. DJ music will be provided by club member Everett Cox.

Vehicles that register will be eligible for door prizes donated by area merchants and the Cruisers throughout the night, Wettstein said.

The main registration will take place at the parking lot between Subway, 115 N. Maple St., and the new location of the State Farm Insurance Agency, 109 N. Maple St. U.S. 59 is Maple Street inside Garnett.

She said vehicles also are welcome to park at Sonic, Dairy Queen and the Garnett State Savings Bank parking lots in the same area, which is about 200 yards south of the northern traffic light on U.S. 59.

Participants also are welcome to cruise Garnett and the North Lake Road where the historic Lake Garnett Grand Prix sports car races were conducted.

The cruise night is in addition to the club’s fall car show, which is done in conjunction with the Anderson County Corn Festival, she said.
