Five years after graduating from Williamsburg High School, Scott Driver is doing exactly what he wanted to do when he was in high school.
Driver is finishing his first year at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry in Kansas City, Mo. He graduated from Baker University last year with a major in molecular bioscience.
“I knew I wanted to work in the science field, but I also wanted to work with and help people,” Driver said.
He said he’s had a lot of help with this from his family, teachers and friends.
“I attribute all of my success to a great family base, a willingness to help others, and becoming involved in several great organizations.”
His advice to young people is to become involved in as many things as you can. In high school, Driver was involved in several activities like sports, music and 4-H, among others.
“The groups you become involved in and the activities that you do will stay with you forever and will become a very important part in the person you become,” he said.
Driver was recognized as one of The Ottawa Herald’s Elite Citizen Scholars in 2003 and said he continues to practice what he believes is active citizenship.
“To me, being a good citizen is doing anything in your power to help your community, country and world,” he said.
