Benjamin Yates said he wants to give back and make the world a better place.
An important part of his service during high school was helping at Ransom Memorial Hospital as a junior volunteer. He worked in the laboratory and pharmacy.
He also is active in his church and has done other volunteer work through school organizations.
His school involvement includes band, National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America, student council, drama, Scholars Bowl and golf.
He has worked for several area businesses and now works for Country Mart.
He plans to attend Baker University, majoring in molecular bioscience. He plans to work for a pharmaceutical company doing research for new drugs and finding cures for disease.
He is the son of Jerry and Tammy Yates.
