Peoples earns Big 12 track honor

University of Missouri’s Kearsten Peoples earned Big 12 women’s track freshman of the year. The former Ottawa High School All-American broke two school records at the outdoor championship as she nabbed a title in the discus and a runner-up finish in the shot put.
Her discus hurl of 178 feet, 5 inches set a personal record, while the first-year Tiger also bettered the all-time Mizzou mark in the shot put for the third time this season with her 57-11 toss.

Peoples will compete in the NCAA meet and then head to the U.S. Olympic Trials later this summer.
