Anderson County ATV accident update: Head injuries

By The Herald Staff

A Garnett resident is being treated today for head injuries at a Kansas City-area hospital following an all-terrain vehicle accident at the Cedar Valley Reservoir west of Garnett.

Amy Hermreck, 26, was taken Thursday to the hospital by air ambulance. Officials did not report which hospital and calls today to major medical centers could not confirm her location.

Daisy Hermreck, who said she was a cousin of Amy Hermreck, said Hermreck was being treated for head injuries, but she did not know her condition.

Meanwhile, Jacob Hermreck, 22, Amy Hermreck’s cousin, and the ATV driver, was treated and released from Anderson County Hopsital, officials said.

According to a Garnett Police Department release, the speed of the ATV and alcohol contributed to the accident, which occurred on a gravel road at the reservoir. Neither rider was wearing a helmet, police said.

Daisy Hermreck said Amy Hermreck had just graduated from college and had plans to attend nursing school.
