Some agencies, businesses closed for Memorial Day holiday

Many employees, including those at local, state and federal offices, will enjoy a day off for Memorial Day. City Hall and the Franklin County Courthouse will be closed, in addition to the Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce.

The city commission’s and the Franklin County Monday study sessions have been canceled.

Ottawa Library will close Sunday and Monday and the book and video returns will be locked during that time. The library will reopen at 9 a.m. Tuesday. The library will be closed Sundays during the summer, starting this Sunday, until Labor Day.

The Friends of the Library book sale also will be canceled. The Ottawa Library Board of Trustees meeting scheduled for Monday has been changed to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the conference room at Ottawa City Hall, 101 S. Hickory St.

Briscoe Pharmacy will remain open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. by agreement of local pharmacies.

The Ottawa Senior Center and the East Central Kansas Area Agency on Aging will close Monday. The Ottawa Herald also will close Monday and no paper will be printed. The office will reopen at 8 a.m. Tuesday and regular newspaper deliveries will resume.
