Artist says exhibit at OU creates, challenges ‘moral assertions’

All humans make value judgments.

That’s the idea behind an art display featured at Ottawa University’s Mammel Art Center in Myers Library, 1001 S. Cedar St., Ottawa.

The exhibit, titled “Value Judgments (Under Construction),” was created by Walt Ohnesorge-Fick, a recent OU graduate who majored in art.

The exhibit opened Friday and will be displayed until mid-June.

“Value judgments create, challenge and deconstruct prorated moral assertions,” Ohnesorge-Fick said in a news release.

Ohnesorge-Fick plans to attend San Francisco Art Institute in the fall.

“In an attempt to tap humanistic social cues while retaining faith as a personal solvent, the show ‘Value Judgments (Under Construction)’ has become my senior exhibition and represents the culmination of my undergraduate work at Ottawa University,” Ohnesorge-Fick said.

Nearly all pieces of the show are for sale, with 10 percent of the proceeds being donated to OU’s Visual Art Department.

The show is open to the public between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, though anyone wishing to meet the artist or purchase a piece of his work may e-mail Ohnesorge-Fick at lwalto@gmail.com or call him at (785) 218-2504.
