Wheat lower due to dollar pressure, ongoing harvest Monday

From the Kansas City Board of Trade

Kansas City wheat futures traded lower on Monday, feeling pressure from strength in the U.S. dollar, and the ongoing harvest, according to traders.

Rain in HRW wheat areas on Saturday and Saturday night caused some delays in the harvest over the weekend in Kansas, traders said, but heat and dry weather should allow cutters to continue this afternoon.

Protein levels appear to be lower from reports, as expected, traders added.

Crude oil was trading lower this morning, in line with the strength in the U.S. dollar.

Commodities were lower across the board.

KC July wheat was 11 ΒΌ cents lower at $6.03 1/2 at midday.

CASH GRAIN: Basis feels firmer again today, as cash traders wait on harvest and are in need of higher protein level wheat.
