VERGIL CALAHAN

Vergil Calahan, 85, Colony, died Tuesday, June 23, 2009, at Windsor Place in Iola. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Colony.  

He was born Sept. 22, 1923, Arthur and Pearl (King) Calahan at Oberlin.  

He was a member of the Army Air Force.  

He married Grace Wilson Nov. 22, 1945, at Iola. She survives.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Robert and Kenneth Calahan; and one grandson.

Survivors also include a son, Bruce Calahan, of Lebo; daughters, Gail Strickler, of Colony, and Tracy Mann, of Moran; a brother, Rex Calahan, of Iola; a sister, Wanda Quick, of Iola; 10 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Burial will be in the Colony Cemetery.  

The family will meet with friends at 10 a.m. Thursday until the service time.  

Memorial contributions may be made to the Iola Alzheimer’s Support Group and sent in care of the funeral home.
