Williamsburg teens in Monday rollover

The condition of two Williamsburg teens was unknown this morning following a one-vehicle accident Monday afternoon.

Turner Anderson, 15, and Richard Stack, 17, both of Williamsburg, who were passengers in the vehicle were taken to Coffey County Hospital following a wreck just before 4 p.m. Monday on Old Highway 50, a report from the Kansas Highway Patrol said.

A hospital spokeswoman couldn’t release patient information for the two or confirm that they were at the hospital, citing federal privacy laws.

The driver of the vehicle, Edward Mazzolini, 32, Williamsburg, was taken to Stormont-Vail Regional Medical Center in Topeka and was treated and released, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Mazzolini was westbound on Old Highway 50 when he made an avoidance maneuver to avoid striking a deer, the highway patrol report said.

The vehicle, a 1998 Ford Ranger, left the roadway and went into a spin, entered and struck the eastbound ditch. It then rolled and struck a barbed wire fence and came to rest in a field south of the fence, the report said.

The report said Mazzolini was ejected from the vehicle during the rollover, and indicated that none of the vehicle’s occupants were wearing seat belts.
