Ottawa Elks recognize students

The Ottawa Elks Lodge 803 recently had a Youth Appreciation Dinner and recognized several youth.
Lodge scholarships were given to Wade Billings, Anna Kuczera, Megan Ketchum, Ben Harris and Kelsey Diamond.
Elks National Foundation Kansas Elks Scholarships were given to Ben Harris, Megan Ketchum and Anna Kuczera.
Essay contest winners included:
• Fifth and sixth grade — first, Logan Brown, who also placed first in district and third in state; second, Samantha Volkman; and third, Rebecca Brannan.
• Seventh and eighth grade — first, Jeremy Bledsoe, who also placed second in district.
First place hoop shoot winners included:
• 8-9 Boys — Xavier “Sonny” Littlehead.
• 8-9 Girls — Brook Sumonja.
• 10-11 Boys — Trey Rich.
• 10-11 Girls — Tami Schaefer.
• 12-13 Boys — Austen Twombley, who also took first in district and second at state.
