Optimist scholarship recipients named
|

Ottawa High School seniors, front from left, Ben Harris, Jeffrey Jones and Mallorie Mendell were presented Ottawa Optimist Club scholarships May 15. Harris received the Harold Wallace Athletic Scholarship, which is presented to an athlete who has exhibited outstanding achievement in sports and academics. Jones received the Lee Arb Vocational Scholarship. Mendell received the Eddie Kimball Academic Scholarship. Harris and Mendell plan to attend Kansas State University, and Jones plans to attend a vocational school at Beloit. The Ottawa Optimist Club has given more than $30,000 in scholarships to OHS graduates. Club members Russ Testorff, left, and Dale Fox also are pictured.
