Suspect in killings fighting extradition to Missouri

By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

IOLA — A 45-year-old Garnett man charged with killing three of his relatives in their rural home is fighting extradition to Missouri.

Robert Blurton is held on $3 million bond at the Allen County jail on three counts of first-degree murder. It was not known earlier this week whether Blurton had a lawyer.

Blurton is charged in the shooting deaths of 15-year-old Taron Luetjen and her grandparents, 64-year-old Donnie Luetjen, and 61-year-old Sharon Luetjen. All were found June 9 at their home in Cole Camp, in west-central Missouri.

Blurton was the nephew of Donnie and Sharon Luetjen.

Missouri Highway Patrol Sgt. Scott Meyer said early this week that Blurton is fighting extradition to Missouri, which means a Kansas judge may have to order him sent to Missouri.
