Patriots Bank buying Paola location

GARNETT — Patriots Bank announced it will buy the Peoples Bank branch in Paola.

The deal is expected to be completed in early fall pending regulatory approval.

“We are excited about our future involvement in the Paola bank, its employees and community,” Jim Cooper, Patriots Bank chairman, said. “... Our bank is supported by a strong staff of quality people who  are community-minded and customer-focused.

“Our goal is to listen to our customers and offer the best ideas for their needs.”

Peoples will maintain its branch in Louisburg, which is in Miami County, Mike Windholz, Peoples-Miami County president said.

Jennifer Ferguson, Peoples Bank mortgage originator and long-time Paola resident, will remain with Peoples Bank and have a new office at the Peoples Bank in Louisburg, Windholz said.

“Our mission is to help our guests reach their goals, and we’re pleased to have Jennifer join us in Louisburg,” he said. “We also want to thank our many consumer and business guests in Paola for their past relationships with Peoples.”

Patriots Bank, which is based in Garnett, has  banks in Garnett, Gardner, Princeton, Richmond, Wellsville and Westphalia.

Patriots Bank was founded in 1898 and is celebrating its 110th year as a community bank.

Peoples Bank has offices in Douglas, Johnson, Miami and Franklin County, Kansas, as well as offices in New Mexico. The third Peoples Bank location in Lawrence opened recently on the northwest corner of 31st and Iowa streets.
