Pomona rallies to edge Eudora

By The Herald Staff

KANSAS CITY, Kan. — The Pomona American Legion AA squad Wednesday split two Zone Tournament games in Kansas City, Kan.

The Knights rallied in the bottom of the seventh inning to pull out a 6-5 win over Eudora.

Pomona scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh for the dramatic victory.

Pomona lost 5-3 to two-time defending Legion AA champion Kansas City Cyclones, who are the summer baseball team for the six-time 4A state champion Bishop Ward squad.

The Knights tied the game at 5-5 and had the bases loaded. Bryant Harmon was hit by a pitch to force in the winning run.

Cody Miller was the winning pitcher.

The Knights could not come up with a clutch hit against the Cyclones.

Pomona left the bases loaded twice and squandered several other scoring oppurtunities.

Jeremy Testerman was the losing pitcher.

“We need to get some timely hitting. We are leaving too many guys on base. Our pitching and defense has been solid,” Pomona coach Ian Evans said.
