CHARLES ATKINS COLBERN

Charles Atkins Colbern, 87, Meriden, Kan., died Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009, at St. Francis Hospital, Topeka. He was born April 1, 1922, the son of Frank C. and Flora L. (Atkins) Colbern. He was married to Doris Bishop. They were divorced. He had resided with his grandchildren, Shannon and Melissa Colbern, and their three children at Meriden since 2006.

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Lori Colbern, of Wellsville, Kan., and Gregg and Beverly Colbern, of Ottawa, Kan.; five grandchildren, Shannon Colbern, Shane Colbern, Haley Colbern, Casey Colbern and Ande Keith; and three great-grandchildren, Kevin Colbern, Keegan Colbern and Cabrini Colbern. Memorial services will be private.
